So my snap press has to be treated JUST SO to get the snaps to set correctly. On a fluke, I pressed the handle further up and the snap set just right. Weird. I discovered that, contrary to my understanding of leverage, pushing from the very back of the handle tended to lift the front of the press up instead of using that force to depress the snap die completely. At least it works now, even if it is difficult to get enough pressure to set them.
LHP helped me set some snaps, and he is hooked. JLP even helped me this afternoon. He practiced his colors when he put the cap in, and we had a great time together.
