We went to Boise to watch the big Marching Band competition called District 3. The band made the decision to compete at a higher level this year, and after petitioning, were granted permission. They played very well and performed a good show, but the score didn't come out on top as we have been accustomed to in the lower divisions. It was a little weird seeing the band walk away without any 'hardware' (aka trophies), but I think it was a good move to reach and try to achieve instead of continuing to dominate every year.
I love the creativity, precision, communal effort, fanfare, and celebration that marching band brings. I am proud to be part of the legacy here and recognize the positive effect it has on the students who participate.
